REVIEW ON HIP HOP HISTORY STARTING FROM 1970'S.
This period really can be said to be the notable and conscious era for the emancipation and development of what is now known as Hip Hop.
DJ U-Roy invades Jamaican pop charts with three top ten songs using a style known as toasting. The Last Poets release their self-titled debut album on Douglas Records combining jazz instrumentations with heartfelt spoken word. (The Last Poets would later appear on Common’s 2005 rap anthem, “The Corner."). In 1971, Aretha Franklin records a well-known b-boy song “Rock Steady." The Rock Steady crew would go on to rule in the world of break-dancing, with members all across the globe and The Black Messengers (a group that staged performances for The Black Panthers and rallies relating to black power movement) feature on The Gong Show. Before some facts will be given further from other sources, KRS 1 in an interview gave the scenario how the activities and events began to unfold from the South Bronx in New York City during the late 1970s then becoming a culture and a way of life.
DJAfrika Bambaataa of the Zulu Nation during this period clarified hip hop culture and also coining the terms: "rapping" (MCing), DJing, breakdancing and graffiti art. Some other other attitude towards Hip Hop such as beatboxing, Street entrepreneurship, slang, hip hop fashion and style began to play a major role in the evolution of Hip Hop. DJ Kool Herc was also another driving force in the development of hip hop music, Kool Herc is credited as the "father" of hip hop for developing the key DJ techniques that, along with rapping, founded the hip hop music style by creating rhythmic beats by looping"breaks" on two turntables which was later accompanied by "rapping" or "MCing". During this time, DJ/MC/Crowd Pleaser Lovebug Starski began to refer to this culture as"hip-hop." 1974 and beyond Hip Hop took a more established and dynamic form as Grandmaster Caz, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, The Cold Crush Four, The Furious 5, Sugarhill Gang’s, etc began to propagate the Hip Hop movement.
